A plastic surgeon from Florida has written a book aimed at 4-7 year olds, the first that ever addresses the issue of women, most especially mothers, going in to get plastic surgery.

It is the first known picture book that has been created to help assure the little ones regarding mommy going under the knife - getting a tummy tuck, breast lift, or perhaps a new nose? The book, entitled "My Beautiful Mommy" has created some fire among feminists and cosmetic surgeons who say that one of the books effects would be undermining the self-esteem of the young children.

The doctor and father of four, Dr. Michale Salzhauer, wrote the book after the experience of many of his patients concerned about what to tell thir kids. He's had a number of "mommy makeover" patients who come in to have him fix their saggy breasts or slacking tummies. Though it may sound humorous, Salzhauer believes it is an issue that should be addressed. The book is especially written for mothers who have already booked their plastic surgery and now has to face her kids, explaining why she has to stay in bed, why the daddy has to pick them up from school and other issues that may arise.

So many women have these operations in the United States, up to hundreds of thousands of women. The book is suppossed to help these women at a very specific time to help cope as the household goes topsy turvy for a couple of wweks.

In 2007, 1.8 million plastic surgery procedures were performed in the United STates, according ot he American Society of Plastic Surgeons. Most of these procedures were liposuction and breast augmentation.

According to the book author, Salzhauer has received some postive feedback from his patients. However, there has also been some furious online debating regarding the explanations of the mommy character of the book who does all the explaining, attractive, beautiful and a cartoon. The book has been written out of good intentions, not to corrupt society. Salzhauer intended it to be a best seller, a bed-time story book for children and their parents.

However, there are some controversial statements that sure can mess with the minds of little ones such as:
"As I got older, my body stretched and I couldn't fit into my clothes anymore. Dr Michael is going to help fix that and make me feel better" or to explain a nose surgery, "not just different, my dear -- prettier!."
