Since 2002, Euthanasia is legal (under conditions) in Belgium and untill the 18/03/08 , it had never been a problem (even if there were still protestations of the Christian Flemishes...). Indeed,Chantal Sébire, French, 52 years old, who had an uncurable cancer which had developped on her face, hs been found dead this 19th March after she had aked the right of being euthanasied, but this right has been refused because it's illegal in France. After Utopsy, scientits dicovered in her blood an inncredible toxuc concentration of "Pentobarbital" (otherwise, she commited suicide)
This toxic "barbituric" product can't be found in any Pharmact, so a police enquiry has been opened.
Chantal was an ex-teacher, mother of three children.
In reaction of Chantal's dead, new debates have been opened among the Belgian gouvernment: there are some tht say that we should review the law and decrease the right to Euthanasia, others say that it should be legal as well for underage and unconsious people. Indeed while france is talking about an "assisted suicide", Belgium feels really concerned about it.
