The boldest Tibetan protest in nearly three weeks in Kathmandu took place when a group of over twenty Tibetan schoolchildren staged a protest in the area of the main United Nations compound in Kathmandu, Nepal's capital. The children, aged between 15 and 18, all dressed in school uniforms, scaled the wall.

On August 21, special education teacher, Tiffany Rubin, began her traumatic ideal when her ex-boyfriend Jeffrey Salko disappeared with their child following a visit. The two then had joint custody of their son, but Salko facing up to six months in jail for not paying child support. The son lived with his mother and saw his father on alternated weekends. Rubin had already given up hope of ever seeing her child again when she then received an anonymous tip through her account at MySpace. Somebody had spotted both her 7-year-old son and her ex-boyfriend in South Korea.
